You’re setting yourself up to be the Arbitor Ian of Warhammer Fantasy and that is not a bad role to fill. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in future.

6th Edition was definitely the best by far, imo. Storm of Chaos (story, not the actual event), the balance, the number of armies... it really was the peak of WH Fantasy.

5th and 6th edition will always be my special place, the glory years, but I love it all! Great vid! 🔥

I can’t agree enough with your assessment of how much this hobby encouraged & expanded my literacy, numeracy and imagination. It’s a testament to the creators that they never talked down to their audience!

Brilliant retrospective and a wonderful walk down memory lane, I came in at the start of 5th Edition and suffered at the hands of Herohammer until they ironed that out of the system in 6th. The Old World holds a very large and strong part of my childhood and teens, so I join in the raising of frothing cup bugman's and let's sing the song of my people! "What do we do with drunken Goblin, What do we do with a Druken goblin early in the mornin?!" ... :)

I've fond memories of 3rd edition. Looking forward to your Fighting Fantasy retrospective. I'll pack my leather armour, short sword and D6 provisions.

I see what you did there.

Keep up the good work!

I’m glad you made this video (and the future ones). I stopped playing GW in the 90s when I started spending my pocket money/wages on music and beer. I went back into GW in my 30s just to see what was going on and found that all the warhammer stuff I played had completely vanished. I had no idea what was going on. This has explained it a bit for me. Cheers!

Love your work, always interesting to hear someone share the origins of their passions/hobbies and talk about the legacy of getting into it as a kid 🙏🏾💪🏾

4th Ed was when I started WHFB the memories and still my fav era of the game. I left the hobby before 6th Ed hit and then came back to it in 2010 8th ed and was dismayed by how everything was different - didn't like the new magic system, fav characters nerffed to nothing, you had to have ridiculous large unit numbers and it didn't have the same feeling that I had back in 4th and 5th ed.

My old Uni society had a copy of 1E Warhammer and to this day I think the lack of HUNGRY MENFISH is what WH has been lacking in the modern age.

Alignment: Hungry amuses me to this day.

Loved 4th edition. A lot of love went into that box!

My father, bless him, bought me that box set for 6th edition back in the day. No idea why he let some kid mess up all that money but I’ll never forget how supportive he was of it — even built me a painting desk for them.

Just discovered your work and can't wait to dive in. Like you, I think I owe a lot to Warhammer Fantasy. Got my first Lizardmen army between the 5th and 6th editions and learned a lot of writing, world building, and maths from the game. And about a year ago I became a contributor to Warhammer Fantasy Role Play, most notably Lustria. So extremely excited to see someone doing an affectionate deep dive like this.

As someone from the States, it was at 12 I found this wondrous setting. I got a bit of nostalgia and stumbled on you. Keep it up!
