Tip to not look like a beginner: Don't be a beginner. Start out being a professional.

I just started skating at the age of 34 and I don’t give a damn what anyone thinks. I do it because I like rolling around. I have fun, stay out of peoples way and embrace the falls when pushing myself to the limits. Respect the other riders and they will most likely respect you. Keep pushing guys.

Dude if the mall grab is so unpopular at parks, then grabbing mall has gotta be the desired badass grab since it's against the self-imposed rules

Skaters: We want you to feel welcome. We were all beginners at one time.

Also skaters: don’t hold your board that way, poser.

Every skater respects skaters. Best way to break ice if uncomfortable is check if you are doing a trick and in someone’s way who’s waiting to go on the thing you are on. No matter how new you are the top skaters in your park will appreciate that a lot and tell you no we take turns or you are good they aren’t skating that thing right now but thanks etc skateboarders are a collective of misfits remember the best ones have spent tons of hours doing this thing they love and they are for sure passionate about it and would love to help you if you ask etc. It’s a good community.

Shed your fear. One of the main things about learning something new is to not worry how you look. The same people that will give you too little credit at the beginning will give you too much credit after you figure things out. Both messages only messes up your game, so it's best not to care and focus on your craft. People will always misappropriate your credit, progress doesn't lie, focus on your results instead of how you look.

There is nothing wrong with looking like a beginner if you ARE a beginner.

We all start somewhere.

Pro tip: posers have a tendency to call out beginners or other “posers”. Just have fun. Most of us are NOT going to judge you and will most likely be nice to you or give you tips.

52 and went to the skate park on my 1st day. Ended up meeting a guy about 10 years younger than me who was really helpful. Had a fat time and he even let me ride a couple of his boards. Now 3 days in and loving it.

I just started skateboarding again and videos like this make me worry about the wrong things. This guy may have helped me learn how to pop-shovit but he sure makes you think that everything you do is gonna be blamed, and honestly, so what? Skateboarding is for myself, not for people to look at me. So my best advice is do not listen to all this "poser, not poser" bullcrap videos and coments and just do whatever you want and HOWEVER you want it. Make it your own style even. But don't ever let anyone's opinion get in the way. Tony Hawk himself mallgrabs. That should destroy the whole purpose of this video

Dude, I was skating mongo before this guy was even born. Never stopped me. Do what feels good and is fun. Also, the beginner stage is one of the best times you'll have when undertaking any new discipline, provided you go into it with the right attitude. Worrying about looking like a noob is not the right attitude.
