The bottlenecking probably has more to do with the single channel memory than the Ryzen 5 but I'm really impressed with these setups in general. I've even seen others make it plug n play.

Totally agree with other comments, the Single Channel memory is what's being the real bottleneck here, you must have in mind that for the CPU to "distribute" the bandwidth correctly it needs a proper memory channel, I'm sure if you re-run the test and even limit Fortnite to lets say 8gb, it will run much better.

I am actually using this setup right now. Except I have the gpu adapter plugged into my mini pc (9th gen Intel i5, 32 gb ram, Samsung 980 pro 500gb ssd) I have the card plugged into my 75" 4k tv on 1080p resolution, with all settings on high, and i get anywhere from 115 to 145 fps on apex legends. My gpu is a 12gb gtx 2060.

OMFG that is my gpu haha, it actually has really good price to performance at msrp, rn going on average on newegg for around $700 and on ebay around $200+ | Soon im getting a new pc with a 1660 ti and a ryzen 7 2700x with 32gb ram and a b450 tomahawk and 6 fans with the wraith prism rgb cooler which i can sell with cpu and get a r5 5600x with a 240mm aio :)

I like this idea, I wanted to do an optiplex build because I have a hp pavilion with a ryzen 7 that I bought for school and now that I no longer need it for some reason no one wanted to buy it, it might’ve been my add, I don’t know. But, this way I save my computer from turning into ewaste and save some money in the process.

If u used a version that uses the WiFi adapter slot instead of the m.2 on an older laptop will u be able to get WiFi using a WiFi adapter via usb

An old i7 laptop, maybe like a Thinkpad, that has express card is perfect for this. There's a Dell power brick that works with the GPU adapter and there's ones with express card. The ThinkPads also have a dock so you could just drop the laptop in, plug in the express card, and game.

We need more Laptop that supports "Quick Release" M.2 NVMe slot. So let's say all of NVMe slot are quick release. We can use one of them for eGPU as quickly as possible.

I remember making my own EGPU with random parts and used it on my MacBook pro with TB2 and it was pretty sweet!
