Suntec City is an integrated commercial development consisting of five office towers, a convention center, and a shopping mall, built as the centerpiece of the reclaimed Marina Bay district. It began construction in 1989 and opened over three phases: Phase I, consisting of the 18-story Tower 5, the 6-story convention center, and the West Wing (former Galleria) portion of the mall, completed in 1995; Phase II, consisting of the 44-story Towers 1 and 2 alongside the North Wing (former Tropics) and Fountain Court (former Fountain Terrace) sections of the mall, also completed in 1995; and Phase III, comprising the 44-story Towers 3 and 4 along with the East Wing (former Entertainment Centre) section of the mall, opened in 1997. The convention center, in particular, was the largest venue of its kind in Singapore until the Sands Expo in Marina Bay Sands opened in 2010. The overall development had the appearance of a large hand (with the convention center block as its wrist, the shorter Tower 5 as its thumb, and the taller Towers 1 to 4 as its fingers) cradling a large fountain called Fountain of Wealth on its palm, an appearance said to symbolize the cradling of wealth for visitors to the complex.

The development had 130 elevators (excluding four demolished units) and four dumbwaiters, all originally installed by Mitsubishi (though some had been replaced by Schindler some time in the 2000s), and is reportedly the largest single vertical transportation project in Singapore undertaken by Mitsubishi to this date; this is in addition to three hydraulic platform lifts, made by ThyssenKrupp, adjacent to the fountain basin. Among those, this video features the group of two passenger elevators at the southern side of the mall's East Wing, referred to as Lobby S. Apparently, there used to be four additional elevators in this bank that also served now-nonexistent floors 5 to 8, which were removed around 2009 when the four-story department store above the mall podium was demolished. They were some of the last installations of Mitsubishi's original GPS model with VFDL controllers, before GPS-3 series, its successor released in the same year this portion of the development was completed, became widespread. They had a very unusual set of fixtures, consisting of concave round metal buttons and an oval variant of 16-segment indicators usually found in American Mitsubishi installations from the 1990s. The cab interiors were simple, featuring stainless steel walls (with a band of red paint near the ceiling indicating that these elevators were in the East Wing) and granite tiles on the floors. Despite having been in more than 25 years of service, they ran as good as new, indicating excellent maintenance.

This is the only group of elevators within Suntec City of which a proper footage was obtained during this visit; other elevators within the mall and those within the office towers and convention center could not be filmed either due to lack of time or being overcrowded.

In terms of fixtures, these are extremely rare with only five examples have been known to exist in Asia. The other four examples are in the Berjaya Times Square (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), an undisclosed location somewhere in Singapore, Bank of China Tower (Hong Kong), and Regal Airport Hotel (Hong Kong).

Do you have any idea where the dumbwaiters are in this place? Been here many times but couldn't find any traces of them
