2024 Harley Davidson Road Glide 500 mile review

Of all of the motorcycles that I own, I have never purchased one brand new. Recently I decided to purchase a brand new 2024 Harley Davidson Road Glide Standard. The 2024 has some new feature never seen in previous models. I purchased this motorcycle from the Black Hills Harley Davidson dealership in Rapid city South Dakota during this years Sturgis motorcycle rally.

I thought it would be a good idea to to talk about the things I have noticed both good and bad in comparison to my older Harley. I own two other Harley’s, one is a 1983 iron head sportster.(which really is no comparison) and the other is a 2004 Road kKng custom that I commonly referred to as my “STREET KING”. And even Between these two models, there is a considerable difference between the two machines.

After spending more than 500 miles on the motorcycle, there are number of things that I’ve noticed that I really like about the newer model, and a few things that I’m truly not that thrilled about. We’re gonna talk about those differences and my opinions on some of these topics. I hope you enjoy the video and if you do, please make sure to like comment and share. And your subscription would be greatly appreciated.

When I met you at Daytona, I said one of the reasons I liked your channel is your not like watching a commercial for a slew of products. Thanks for another non bias review

This is spot on to what I am experiencing with the bike. I’m only 100 miles in.

Excellent Review. My Dad always said-when you wanna buy a machine, talk to the mechanics that work on them, not the salesman.

Hey, this is Patty‘s significant other. I sat on your bike out at Sturgis at the time. I had an Indian chieftain you told me about the clutch when sitting on yours. I came back traded in my chieftain and got the road glide. What a beautiful bike. The clutch doesn’t feel like yours. It has plenty of free play and does not grab right away, I think there’s something wrong with your clutch I hope you can sort it out maybe talk to a local dealer or something. See you next year at Sturgis.

You are spot on with your commentary. I had my clutch adjusted at 1000 miles and now at 2000 it has slackened up and allowed me to have a more natural relase

Congrats and excited for you landing your first new bike. Love the choice, the color is outstanding, the “1” on the tank is perfect. Enjoy the upgrades; just no more sliding sideways through turns.

An honest operational overview instead of a Harley Davidson advertisement, refreshing 👍

Hi Adam. I just bought a 2025 RG and same thing with the stiff clutch. I had it to the dealer and they fiddled with it and made it very slightly better. I removed the black plastic triple tree cover and freed the cable by removing the 1/4 20 cable clamp and also took the cable out of the lower cable clamp. Now the cable is no longer hidden under the black plastic cover but its still out of my view of the info screen. Clutch lever now is easier and smooth. You will see how bad Harley did mounting this cable to the bike to just hide it.

Tons of useful information especially because I just traded in my 2017 street glide special for a 2024 road glide. I have 300 miles on it currently so you can imagine how much I appreciate your feedback. You and I met 3 months ago at your booth in Laconia and you were helpful answering my questions about the love jugs. FYI, I am experiencing the same issue with my apple carplay disconnecting from the dash. Needless to say it is problematic. I will be in OCMD next week and look forward to catching up with you regarding this topic. Thanks again.

When I bought my 2020 Breakout, I thought the clutch was set a little tight like yours. It started engaging with the slightest movement of the lever. When I had the 1, 000 mile done, the tech must have thought the same thing, as he adjusted the clutch. I had to re-learn the new adjustment and shifting because I had gotten used to the factory adjustment. Nothing like a few enjoyable miles on the road to get used to a new bike. Here's to many safe and enjoyable miles to you and KT on your bikes and safe travels to and from the rallies. Blessings to you, my friend.

Great video, like you, I wasn't a fan of the 24 models for the longest time. I finally test rode one last week and can't wait to get my own, hopefully this week, once I decide which color I want. Looking forward to the spring rallys hope to see you there.

if you adjust the clutch yourself it's easy. the adjustment in the primary was way out. now it's perfect

Congrats on your new bike. I bought a new SG about 3 months ago. Just had 1k service done by deal which I negotiated first 2 services in on the deal . I almost felt like I could have wrote your script on your likes and dislikes I went from a 2012 Kawasaki Concours 14 to the new SG, total different animal. They did readjust my clutch when they serviced the bike, seemed to help some
The throttle control offers almost no resistance and I sometimes have problems using front brakes like I did on previous bike.
Only modes I’ve done so far is Reinhardt slip on and bag guards looking forward to watching you make it your own. One thing I have enjoy that you didn’t mention is the hill assist really helps hold bike and not having to hold bike ith front brakes—-enjoy your channel

I have the same experience with my clutch and throttle. I’m at 800 miles I’m going see what kind of clutch adjustments they can make. Thanks for sharing your experience!
