Quantum Computing: Top Players 2021

In this video I give you an overview on the different technologies for quantum computing, their benefits and disadvantages, who is working on what, and how far along they are.

Correction to what I say at 7 mins 17 seconds: They have of course a net POSITIVE charge.

Correction to what I say at 9 mins 24 seconds: D-wave informed us that 5600 qubits is a bit too high. 5000+ would be the most accurate number.

Many thanks to Tanuj Kumar for help with this video.

I'd been keeping an eye-on quantum computing (nice pun there) but got tired of seeing all the puffery in the news on it. This video is a great update on actual progress.

I promise you all, this is the best summarization content for quantum computing on the whole internet, have been consuming content for years now

Sabine: You provide interest, information, and clarity in a personable, accessible, and engaging manner. Wow.

An oportune update in a hot topic, thank you!
A correction, at 7:15, "In ion traps, the qubits are atoms that are missing some electrons and therefore have a net negative charge",
may assume you mean "positive"?

I love Sabine's "no BS" approach. 👍

I see Schrodinger's Cat is alive and well on Sabine's shirt 😅 excellent choice for the quantum computing video.

I found this channel last week and I have to say I'm impressed with the good work and the amazing explanations. You're such an inspiration!

I don't think I'll ever understand quantum computers, but I feel Sabine manages to make them a bit less mysterious to me.

I adore these videos

These videos are exactly what I need. The clarity of the concepts are informative on a pedestrian level to open the minds of the quantum curiosity world. I have been chomping down on many such videos and my mentality is insatiable! Keep 'em coming!

This the best status update on all the various approaches I’ve ever seen. Very clear and concise.

7:03 Gotta love that transition. "...eye one. Ion..."

Interesting. I can remember a time when Quantum Computing was just a concept. Even if it takes another 20-30 year to build a machine that can be used, the impact could (probably will) be enormous.

Thank you so much for all you do on this channel. I really appreciate you get straight down to the point without any fluff. I've learned a lot from this channel!

Most of the time, I have no clue what you are saying, but I still love it to bits...!!

Thank you Sabine! This is gold! Every newer issued video is more concise and condensed than the previous one: you made us understand so much about what is important on this topic than the equivalent of several months of intensive dedicated studies and more.

Learned from the shirt: Use Schroedinger cats for Quantum Computing.
Pro: work at room temperature, can operate for several years, each bit has 9 lives, can easily be upscaled, kind of self replicating basic units, cute and funny to look at operation which can be commercialized as clips on social platforms to lower operation cost
Cons: makes plurring sounds, difficult to control and sometimes unpredictable interactions, need a lot of space, computer could have a strange and unpleasent odor after some time, maintenace include food and water, results can be disturbed by hairs or poo, collapse of the wave function could make it necessary to start from scratch

I hope you update this topic. I have looking at several of the companies in which to invest that you have mentioned.
P.S. Your videos are extremely fascinating and easy to understand. Thanks.
