Rhaenyra Targaryen foreshadows her fate in the House of the Dragon season 2 finale, raising questions about how the TV adaptation will ultimately handle her. At the core of the House of the Dragon cast, actors Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke play Rhaenyra and Alicent Hightower, whose duality has defined much of the show's thematic approach to war. In the season 2 finale, they meet at Dragonstone, where Rhaenyra suggests Alicent will be "painted as a villain" by historical accounts if she betrays the Greens and allows Rhaenyra to retake King's Landing.

There are massive implications at play for House of the Dragon's overarching narrative. The show is based on Fire & Blood, an extension of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice & Fire series. The source material book offers an outline of the Dance of the Dragons in a "fictional historical" context, exploring how maesters and other in-universe characters interpret these events. HOTD takes this into account with its writing, trying to tell how things might actually have happened in a hypothetical sense. For example, characters like Rhaenyra and Alicent are far more sympathetic in the show.

This series takes place 172 years before the time frame of the 1st episode of G.O.T. I find it amazing how every 3rd character in THIS series is black, yet G.O.T. has so few and certainly none in the houses of nobilty. Wonder how they will explain how they all disappeared in only 172 years? Also, they REALLY poked the pooch with the creation of the house of Valyria. They beat us over the head with dialogue decrying how they, along with the Targyrions, escaped the doom of Valyria, when Geroge Martins historical lore clearly states, the ONLY people who escaped the Doom of Valyria, were Aegon Targyrion and his 2 sister-wives due to one of the sisters having had a dream, fortelling the imminant anhialation of Valyria. Its also humorous, the lazy, woke writers of House of Dragons, decided to give the house of Valyria more credibility by naming them, the house of Valyria. That would be tantamount to naming house Stark or house Lannister...the house of Westeros...i mean, true to form, woke writers care not for continuity or careful, thoughtful creativity..nope..they destroy these beloved creations in the name of.." the message" that is all things woke. I could even get past woke writing if they were creative and original enough to write something new instead of shitting all over established, previously, successful franchise's. Is it not ironic that the alphabet people, who claim to be full of creativity, simply cannot create anything original that ever garners any modicum of success?
