Worst Phone Of 2025 | iPhone 16e Review

Reviewing Apple's iPhone 16e, the worst phone of 2025. Not merely the worst value phone, but the most horrible smartphone I've had to test this year. The camera tech is basic but okay, the battery life is actually great, but everything else on the iPhone 16e is mostly terrible. Even gaming on Genshin Impact was surprisingly juddery at times. Apple AI? Don't get me started on Apple AI!

The design is okay, if bland and uninspiring, mostly because this is one of the few compact-ish phones of 2025. The Apple iPhone 16e of course brings back unwelcome archaic elements like the massive notch and lack of Always on Display, while iOS is far from improved with the AI changes. Siri is just as hopeless as ever - you may as well direct your queries at your cat.

Likewise, the iPhone 16e is surprisingly shonky for gaming. Despite the cut-back A18, I found that frame rate regularly dipped when graphics were set to high, which wasn't expected. Battery life is thankfully a big improvement on the iPhone 16e, although charging speeds are sloooooow and there's no MagSafe.

That camera is fine, if inflexible thanks to the lack of telephoto support which you'd expect for the price. If this was an Android phone, that is. I've been testing it for a couple of weeks and the results were exactly as expected.

This would be a great option at €459. Thing is, it costs €739 where i live (for a measly 128GB) which turns Apple into a comedy show.

My god. never laughed so hard during a review. Thanks mate. I'm using an iPhone XS (bought it new when it came out). I have a MacBook and Apple Watch 10. So I'm pretty deep into the Apple eco system. But my next phone will not be an iPhone. Really fed up with the way Apple is marketing their stuff and selling it for ridiculous prices. Can't justify it anymore... I think the new pixel 10 will be a contender for me.

I think Flossy Carter said it well.

Something along the lines of "If buying a cheap iPhone, buy the flagship from last or 2 years ago. Or just go Android, same price much better phone". It also reduces wastes. Save those cute and delicious tortoises.

There is a "mini" Oppo X8 and Oneplus 13 coming too so just get those once they're out.

It's €730 here in Ireland. €20 more will buy you a new S23 Ultra.
Your choice is either buy a top spec phone from 2023 or a midrange phone from 2016. Sounds like a no brainer really

This will be perfect for my mom! Except she refuses to use any iPhone! She is using an S23 FE and using DEX with Xreal air. She is 75. And yes, we are from Europe.
