Chichester is an ancient town, going back to Roman times when they built the six and a half feet walls around it and the roads to London and Silchester. The Anglo-Saxons were here and the Normans.

I worked in Chichester for 16 years as a Baker in 70 (sadly yet another Coffee shop has taken it over this year 2018 )North St Atkins rescued two Bakery books dated 1927 in a skip our builders threw away when we moved across the street to our new bakery, in our cellar where we stored our tins was a big wooden door with iron bars on it behind that was huge stones like a collapse was told it was a secret tunnel for priests to escape to the Cathedral from the Roundheads .met my wife there she was shop Manageress at the time married her in 1977 41 years ago this July .

On a serious note, Chichester is a beautiful town reaped in history. The architecture is exquisite. It reminds bit of Colchester as the Roman's firmly left their mark in both towns.

In 1984 I was part of a program called the young diplomats program where children from all over the world met in England. And one the places we were taken was Chichester, England. I will never forget such a beautiful town . I even took pictures with two Bobbys. They were very nice. Thank you for the tour of Chichester. It brought back great memories.
