Rhianna most certainly deserves this award! her journey and how far she's come as an artist is actually phenomenal, she may not be the greatest singer in the world but she is definitely consistent with her music and is very driven and passionate about what she does.

This is a history and no one did that before and nobody will. I'm really looking forward for the next couple of years to see what she'll get. She totally deserve this. Rihanna did what others can't do in short time. I think they will create a new word for icon just for her because the name (icon) will be too small for her. She absolutely deserved it. This generations biggest icon. First real digital star, and with hre reinvented music genres and looks remains me to Madonna. Shes very young, just 26, I think shes going to faaar. The next Madonna :) Gaga became boring after 6 years, Rihanna is more interesting after 9 years... cant wait her new album, Im sure it will be a very big success.

A lot of haters saying that she may be an icon, but not a legend. Other haters are saying how she didn't deserve it. All of the people talking trash on Rihanna are mad because their own dreams didn't come true yet, because if you are truly a happy person, you don't feel the need or want to talk down upon others in their success. Rihanna deserved this more then anyone, she has had hit after hit, and continues to keep scoring number one albums and songs. She has as many number one hits as Madonna at only 25, the only person she has to beat out as far as number one singles in the U.S. is Mariah Carey, and she will definitely do that if she keeps going at the rate she's going.
