The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot—ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short — that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.

Also, this movie might become my favourite movie of all time when I look back - stunning work from everyone involved... you made teary eyed in the cinema! Damn you, DreamWorks! 💚

Thank goodness The Wild Robot avoided the gimmick of stunt voice casting. It’s a relief to see a film that prioritizes authentic performances over star power, allowing the story and characters to shine without distraction.

Vocal acting defines animation. Walt Disney knew this & hired unknowns with voices matching characters instead of known singers/ actors. Few film / singer stars perform vocals well bc voices must have character; some theater stars have unique vocals for animation; J Irons; J. MacAvoy ; Nathan Lane; Bill Murray ; Ideris Elba (Luther); late J. Earl Jones.

this is INSANE. the only one i recognised in the movie was matt berry as a brit and a big fan of his comedy work here, he has a pretty distinctive voice. but the others completely fell away into their characters. some of the most stellar voice work in a major western studio's animated film in years. it's so refreshing after a slew of terrible stunt casting. goes to show if studios _must_ cast big A listers they dont have to sacrifice quality if they put a bit of effort into it (although ultimately id prefer smaller name voice actors over anyone).
