It started off as a mellow Miller's Run downwind surfski paddle...
But after a couple of km, I could hear thunder. Another couple of km and the wind died, rain arrived and so did the lightning.
A 20kt westerly came with the rain and I spent the next 25min grinding into the wind and waves, and experienced the closest thunderbolt I ever wish to.
One to remember, but not to repeat. The next time the forecast says anything about thunderstorms, I'm not going anywhere near the water!
