As Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear says, "Reach for the stars!" and that's what freshmen at MC2STEM are ready to do after an out of this world experience in early August.

Students participated in a live video chat via Skype with NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station. Several students asked astronauts Scott Kelly and Kjell Lindgren questions about being in space, including what the food is like and how they move around.

Kelly and Lindgren kept the students entertained and interested during the 25-minute video chat. They talked about their work and research on the International Space Station and showed them how drinking water can be tricky.

Back on Earth, NASA astronaut and Deputy Director of the NASA Glenn Research Center Janet Kavandi helped host the event at the Great Lakes Science Center and answered many questions, too.

The crowd was in awe and inspired by the whole experience. When the Skype call ended, several students expressed interest in becoming an astronaut.
