I’ve loved this for two years and it was until I actually went through it that I realized this is a break up song describing the doubt you feel wether you actually wanna be with them forever either because of flaws or just actions that have put in doubt their loyalty. “No you’re not the only one I could ever have”
When it says “better not be the one who falls in love again, don’t wanna make believe ” it refers to trying not to get attached again since they can’t “make believe” nothing is going on.
And basically the song talks about choosing to separate to work on yourself instead of keeping an unstable relationship. “Maybe I could be growing instead of always holding half my life in doubtfulness”
And the end just reassures to not worry, since there’s still a lot of life/opportunities left to live:
“Calm down, there’s no need to grieve.. we’re both very young for now”
