Follows the epic Biblical story of the Resurrection, as told through the eyes of a non-believer. Clavius, a powerful Roman Military Tribune, and his aide Lucius, are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Yahshua in the weeks following the crucifixion, in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.

When Yeshua answers him by saying “A day without death” something he stated he longed for earlier in the movie. Melts my heart every time, he knows us completely.

Ah yes, the moment Clavius looks into Yeshua's eyes, amazed, terrified, drops the sword, unable to convince himself this is real. And then Yeshua greets him, and invited Clavius in with the words "come, join us brother, there are no enemies here."

It moves me every time again.

As a Christian, I truly enjoyed this film. The Lord didn't come for only a specific group of people, He came to save all!

Hence, others' perspectives are important to be noted, to fully understand his plans and glory !

The wife and I just watched “Risen” two days ago. Taken for what it is, my wife and I were both impressed. The scene where Christ vanished from among the disciples was very impactful. As a lifelong Christian, I found each performance very real.

Excellent backup to the Passion of the Christ. Biblically grounded and spiritually sound. I now watch both every Resurrection Day. Godspeed pilgrims.

I'm not a believer but damn this was a good story, mainly because it was told from the perspective of an enemy soldier

It's basically a police procedural in Biblical times, which was very creative. The thing I remember most, though, is the sheer joy of the Disciples at the end.

Faith in Jesus is not a religion, it’s a relationship with God ❤️

This is an exceptionally fine treatment of the story of Yeshua's crucifixion and resurrection. Very powerfully done. However, 1 correction to your commentary is that it was Joseph of Arimathea not Joshua who begged for the body of Yeshua from Pilate. Just thought I'd mention it

Before watching the movie for the first time years ago, I was quite shocked/surprised to see Joseph Feinnes as top cast playing the Roman tribune, and then I momentarily became hesitant to watch it fearing that it's going to be another Hollywood film distorting the facts and truth about the Resurrection.

But to my huge, huge surprise, the story turned out rather well in spite of some details (and scenes) there being ''apocryphal'' or fictional, most glaring of which is the ''Clavius'' character, whose name may not be found in Biblical and extra-Biblical accounts.

But for the sake of storytelling, I think Feinnes gave a rather impressive and convincing performance in his role. (I always presume actors might find some of their roles, scripts and even projects cringy in films like this especially dealing in ''faith'' related stories, assuming they're not actually believers themselves).

This is such a wonderful movie touching the heart with warmth of the love that emanated from the Savior. I'm a believer, so there's my truth.
