I'm doing a similar challenge in trying to get Desborough Town into the premier league.... currently 10 seasons in and just got into the championship! Best way i found to get out the lower leagues was a 4-4-2 then switched to a diamond/4-3-3 league two and league one. My biggest income most seasons is sell on clauses.... for the last 6 seasons i've had over 1 million each season which helps alot!! My sponsorship income is only 28k!! And we play at a 5, 250 seater stadium. Tony Williams and Peter Williams are good players at lower league level both free agents at the start of the game

I actually found it very hard to defend without wide players being atleast as high as Wingback. it gives opposition too much time on the ball and makes the team passive. That's why i could only make the diamond work as a secondary or temporary formation

In coming seasons can you play a bit past the first game in your transfer special until you have had time to gather the squad for the season? It's not much of a transfer special if you cut it short before you actually made your transfers...
