I worked there at the time... Every customer came in looking for batteries and resistors. Employees were only trained to sell cell phones and direct tv. This all sounds about right for what I saw.

A true icon of the era. Like Blockbuster and 7-11 and so many other great retail icons of the 80s. Great memories and I worked at Radio Shack back in the 80s.

Imagine going to RadioShack only to be offered a course on how to become wealthy

I used to go to Radio shack when i was about 19-21 to buy parts for my pc and laptop (i used to repair them back then) and not a single Radio Shack employee knew the name of any of the parts i needed or what they did not even a simple thing like a VGA cable, all they said was if its on display we have it. The staff had no idea what they were selling, the only thing they knew was selling phones.

Radio Shack was one of my favorite places to go to when visiting malls. IT is a sad thing to see so many iconic brands disappear especially after many successful and profitable years of operation. The sad thing as those brand names disappear it is difficult to find other stores that fill in the missing gap or category of items sold by the brand. Yes we can buy all those things online, but it is not the same, but sometimes it is still sweet to see, feel and touch the things you buy before you buy them.

I miss the Radio Shack we had back in the sixties and seventies. These days, you have to have a wide selection of chips on hand, or wait for the post office.

I haven't even started the video yet, and I can tell you why Radio Shack died. It died because it scrapped a unique business model and replaced it with the business model of "electronics department at WalMart."

That dude is going to fail, all he cares about is selling courses… which you could get the same info for free.

If Radio Shack had no reason to exist in the years before it closed, it sure as hell has no reason to exist now.

The Radio Shack apparel might be the best thing they sell these days.

I was in Cabo San Lucas last month and I saw a Radio Shack, I couldn't believe my eyes... I almost told the Taxi driver to bring me there!

His Radio Shack purchase was mainly to obtain their email list. This allows him to cross-market other products/brands he's invested in. It's a data play, regardless of the success of the Radio Shack brand.
