This really shows Gemma didn't take the role of guardian of her niece seriously. Despite knowing that Cady lost her parents, she just consider it a inconvenience to her. Yet she wants her to live with her than to live with Cady's grandparents.

Gemma didn’t teach the robot how to protect the girl without harming any humans. She simply say “ protect her both mental and physical.”

The robot was thinking: “ oh so you gave me consent to do whatever it takes to protect the girl.”

Later on:
Genma: Megan, did you harm someone?
Megan: you specifically gave me permission to do whatever I can to protect her. What’s the problem?
Genma: you killed someone.
Megan: you didn’t teach me anything! I have to be the one figuring everything out on my own!


Whenever the ai robot like Megan comes out new, the creator must teach them everything from self development. One thing genma didn’t teach the robot is how not to harm humans even though they can be evil but find a way to solve the problems without any death.

If the sequel comes out then they should show sometime later after the massacre where Gemma has improved M3gan with parental controls, proper protocols, and 3 laws of robotics so she can finally be launched like how she was supposed to be before turning evil, then she might build herself a new body after hacking into the systems and transfer out of Elsie.
