The Front End TRANSFORMATION Begins! | Franna Crane Project | Part 21

Get ready for another action-packed episode of our Franna Crane Project! In Part 21, we're diving deep into prepping the front end of the crane. Watch as we blast away years of rust, coal dust and old paint using our Rapidblast dustless blasting system. Next, we'll use a carbon arc gouger to remove unnecessary parts like the stauff clamp mounts and hose brackets that we’ll no longer be needing. But that's not all! We’ll be giving the front end a complete fabrication makeover so we also need to gouge off the toolbox doors, top plate, and guards. To protect the bare metal, we also apply a coat of etch primer to prevent any rust. Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we continue to transform this crane!

Curious about why we're putting so much effort into this Franna crane?? 🤔We like to think of it as our 'passion project' we do it because we love it, not only that, it's our goal to create a fully restored, functional, and visually stunning piece of equipment that's not only a testament to Kurtis skills but also a valuable asset for our business. We hope you enjoy watching our progress and if you've got any questions drop them below in the comments and we'll do our best to answer them 😄👇

23:00 ‘And the reason I’m going to all this effort is because it is my project and that’s what I want to do.’ And thats what it is! Keep it coming Kurtis💪🏻

"Because it's my project and that's what I want to do" Good on you for saying that out loud!

Oftentimes we look for justification and forget that personal enjoyment and fulfilment can be the main outcome of a project and it doesn't make it any less valid or "real". This one has that in spades, plus you'll have an awesome machine at the end.

Also, to echo other commenters, I would 100% buy merch with that quote or similar sentiment on it :)

We all know Kurtis is a very skilled crafstman but Karen is really knocking it out of the park with these edits consistently.

Over the years, I have learned Kurtis is a very, very patient man. Also, as always, I really enjoyed the format of the video and first rate editing. Good job Karen!

"it is my project and that's what I want to do" YES, YES, YES !! This is why I like to watch this channel. Kurtiss and Karen own their work and make it all theirs and acknowledge when they are doing something for a customer but still you see their ownership of quality workmanship both in machining and camerawork. Thank you for this channel.

What impresses me the most is the logistics effort of keeping track of all the removed parts, and of the sequences required for future re-assembly...

You don't have to justify the franna crane, it has been my favorite series so far. I love the regular videos but when I see a franna update, I buckle down

A new shirt idea. "Why"? "Because it's my project and that's what I want to do" Can't wait to see the new design.

This is the absolute king of do-it-yourself

Even though the old Yard Crane knows it's helping replace itself, it still puts in 100%.👍

As I near retirement I have a special empathy for the old yellow crane preparing his replacement

In this current culture of throwaway technology, it's very refreshing to see content where a good machine is restored so that it can continue to be productively used, and not just trashed. This sort of content has spurred me to try and repair something before just giving up on it - even if I do not yet possess the skill to do so. Of course, my humble repairs are on a much smaller scale :) Keep up the good work, K & K!

It's always so satisfying to see that sandblaster blowing all that grime away.
Surprising amount of pitting here and there.

Kurtis's work ethic and thoroughness impress me. As an engineer previously responsible for a metals and alloys production plant, watching Kurtis take the time to properly secure the frame from any possibility of falling over during the painting, tells me he's the type of person who takes time to do it right. As with all his projects while I enjoy watching him do the work, it's the care and planning that go into them that impresses me most. He also typically discusses things that he would have done different if he did a project again. His customers are lucky to have access to such a great shop for getting repairs done the right way.

YES, the engineering at CEE is superb.
YES, the videos are recorded and edited perfectly.
BUT: what I like the most about the channel is that Kurtis, Karen and Homey found something they can do TOGETHER with passion! This is priceless.

I always smile when I see the old yellow "Frankenstein" crane in action. I love it 😁

Can’t wait to see what your final design is. I think it’s great you are making this crane your own and building what works best for you. Probably my most anticipated series. I have a feeling that the majority of the color will be your blue.

11:31 the fact the sandblaster can blow the trees in the background just shows how powerful it is
