How I get PIN SHARP PHOTOS from front to back

If you are anything like me you probably wondered how photographers got their photos so sharp from the foreground to background of the image. In this first video from my chasing volcanoes series in Iceland I discuss how I focus and use DOF, apps and when to focus stack.

The amount of work you put into your B-roll and establishing shots is incredible. To run ahead and put the camera and then head back to capture you walking or driving would add so much time to the trip but it’s so worth it for us the viewers. Thank you!

I used hyperfocal focussing all the time back in film days, carrying a sheet of paper around with all my lens settings and checking for every shot. It was impossible to focus stack 35mm slides! But I thought it was a lost art since the advent of digital and photoshop focus stacking. Glad you showed this. It's always better to get it right in camera.

Thanks Nigel. I've been struggling with focus for a while. Knew it all in the past, but my M.E. causes memory issues. This was a great reminder and clear guide as to what to do. I had pbotopills already but on a tablet that never comes with me. Now on my phone and will be used when filming my next vlog.
