CHAIRLIFT TO THE BEACH? Scuba Dive in Roatan, Honduras

I take you for a quick scuba dive and short tour of Roatan, especially around the Cruise Ship Terminal, and the chair lift which takes you to Mahogany Beach.
The diving in Roatan, is great with warm, calm, clear, blue waters with lots of fish and sea life, but most impressively are the ship wrecks and the huge and amazing coral reefs which have such large features and colours and life to them. The diving was great and I recommend it to anyone. While there were quite a few people diving on my boat, there weren't many other boats or divers out there, even though there were 3 cruise ships in port.

The forest on the island is a very thick and lush green, full of birds and sounds. A real tropical rainforest.

Now the cruise companies have built a cruise terminal designed to keep you there, where you have to go through a 200 meter long Duty Free Shop before you can get to land, then you come out into a large shopping plaza full of diamond and jewelry shops, tourist and souvenir shops, a Harley Davidson store, a Fat Tuesdays restaurant, etc. You get the idea. It is not full of locally run small businesses.
There is even a chairlift which takes you from the Cruise Terminal, over to a private beach (for tourists only), which is beautiful, but it is manicured and covered in vendors and restaurants and bars. The beach is full of tourists visiting from the cruise ships from the day, and while it will have all of the amenities you need, it will not allow you to experience any genuine Honduran culture. That being said, the location and ease of use is incredible. So the decision to stay close to the ship or go venture off to somewhere else on the island for a beach is up to you. Wherever you go, you'll find nice sand and warm water.

I've been on over 600 dives since 1981.  Roatan is so far the best I've experienced.  Fantastic sea life and ship wrecks

I've never scuba dived before mostly because I can hold my breath for as long as I need. This video appeals to me because I get to see people who are not as amazing as me try novel activities. xD
