Gaza's Shijaiyah In Ruins: Civilians Find Devastation Post-Israeli Offensive

Palestinians returned to scenes of utter devastation in Gaza City's Shijaiyah neighborhood after Israeli troops withdrew following a two-week offensive. The civil defense workers reported finding the bodies of 60 people in the rubble so far. Families who had fled the assault ventured back into Shijaiyah to assess the condition of their homes or salvage whatever they could. Nearly every building had been reduced to rubble, with block after block of flattened structures leaving behind giant piles of concrete and twisted rebar. Here and there, a few stories of gutted concrete frames still stood, stark reminders of the once-bustling neighborhood.
