Αpostolos Preponis : Yayli tanbour
"Pan Metron Ariston" is an original composition by Thanasis Kleopas, the Wandering Melodist, on the ancient lyre, and Tolis Preponis on yayli tambur. It is inspired by a quote of wisdom attributed to Cleobulus (6th century BC), one of the Seven Sages of Greece. The quote refers to a core value of the ancient way of living, in which moderation was perceived as a virtue. So, "Πᾶν μέτρον ἄριστον" can be loosely translated to "Everything In Moderation" or "Nothing In Excess."
Thanasis sings and plays on a custom LUTHIEROS ancient lyre, masterfully handcrafted for him in Greece by the Koumartzis family.
The video session took place inside the Akron Art Centre, an exquisite art workshop in Santorini Island, Greece.
