I honestly don't understand people thinking this is bad. It would obviously be more expensive, not just a free copy thrown in. This way I can choose what version or whatever platform I want without needing a specific collectors edition box. Also if it ships close to launch there's no risk of it not arriving by launch and having to wait to play the game.

I think this is much better. Much better for choice. I wish more collectors editions would be like this so don't have any more situations with getting stuck with digital when I want physical or vice versa.

Not including the game is a smart move. There's no difference in price if you pay 100 without the game or 160 with the game. The big game changer here is you can buy your game separately, play on Day 1 and don't worry about receiving your Collector's Edition on Day 1 since the game is a separate purchase.

Since the game is just a download code. They are just selling physical items. And if they included a code you would just get it via email or something. If they included a code in the box probably ppl would get mad it's not instant. I think this is what they are thinking.
