Ferdinand de Saussure (born in Geneva , 26 November 1857 - died in Vufflens-le-Château, 22 February 1913 at the age of 55 years) is a Swiss linguist who is considered one of the Fathers of Modern Linguistics. and semiotics . His major work, Cours de linguistique générale was published in 1916 , three years after his death, by two of his former students, Great Bally and Albert Sechehaye, based on notes from Saussure lectures in Paris
