Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka went on a 10-day visit to China just ahead of the U.S. ally-led Pacific Islands Forum. How are the U.S. and China competing to win influence over the Pacific Island nations? In this episode of “Taiwan Talks,” we explore how China is expanding its reach through investment and loans, key involvement of U.S.-allies such as Australia and New Zealand, as well as the U.S.’ attempts to reestablish bases in the South Pacific. Furthermore, we discuss Taiwan’s diplomatic relations with Pacific Islands nations and how these ties may affect Taiwan’s security and position on the global stage.

Our guests are:

Kuo Yu-jen

When the U$A says they want to help you by building infrastructure in your country, they don't mean hospitals, roads, schools, etc.
They mean military bases.

Taiwan and China are brothers with different governments. They should set aside the political differences and concentrate on mutual benefits, win-win and peaceful reunification and stop foreign powers from exploiting and dividing the country.
Remember how we were mercilessly subjugated, our treasures forcibly wrenched out of our country and the total destruction of the summer palace.
