I was a young teenager When Bread was popular in the early to mid 1970s! But I recognized the feeling you were feeling when you hear them that's exactly how their music affected me I know they broke up and went their separate ways, but they always bring a smile to my face! You play all the Bread you want to!

David Gates had the perfect voice for soft ballads. Pure, clear, soothing. The Best of Bread was released 50 years ago (1973). It’s one of the best compilation albums you’ll find of any band.

Listening to Bread is like taking a 4 minute vacation to the beach... You come out of the song feeling so relaxed and refreshed and you didn't need any of the "Devil's Lettuce"!

Bread always has the same effect on women, which is why I always had “The Best of Bread” 8-track in my car when I was a teenager in the 70’s 😉

I grew up listening to BREAD. David Gates has a great voice and an excellent song writer.

The guitar player on this song Was Larry Knechtel a great sessions musician. A member of Phil Spectors Wall of Sound and The Wrecking Crew. He was a talented multi instrumentalist playing harmonica, piano, bass, guitar, etc. He won a grammy award for his piano work on Simon and Garfunkels Bridge Over Troubled Waters. He played on many famous recordings like Mr. Tambourine Man (Byrds), Stoney End (Barbara Streisand), If I Can Dream (Elvis Presley), Rocking Pneumonia and The Boogie Woogie Flu (Johnny Rivers. He played on the Doors debut album. He later joined bread and played the guitar on the Guitar Man song. He was inducted into the Musicians Hall Of Fame as a member of the Wrecking Crew. He passed in 2009 of a heart attack.

I was 13 when Bread’s Greatest Hits came out and the amount of times I played it in full is countless. 😁

Great reaction Bread was great and are well worthy of many more reactions. How about "Diary" or "Everything I Own" or "If", with apologies to all if you have already reacted to any of these. BTW have you reacted to Blood Sweat and Tears yet? If not, give "Spinning Wheel" a try for starters!!

It seems to me if every song was felt and heard like you felt this one, the world would be in a lot better shape. People are afraid to feel now, and what passes for 'music' now is just bringing down our culture. The world needs Bread! 😊

They were pretty big from 1970 to 1973 releasing about 10 hits. Then they were gone. Legends

Great song, David Gates was a great singer songwriter; we used to play this song on the jukebox, yes we had jukeboxes back in the 70’s

It absolutely makes sense. Some singers just have the ability to make you drift away in the words & music. For me I listen w the ears of a lover and David Gates hits the mark. Easy listening music was often overlooked, esp w male vocalists. Most music fans think men should be hard, especially in Rock n Roll which is tragic imo. Glad you're enjoying the Bread rabbit hole. Next is recommend "Sweet Surrender" ❤

His voice has such a sweet transparent love. Could be smiling at his sweetheart, or a daddy daughter dance, it's such an innocent love expressed.

Artist back then had many skills on musical instruments. David & Larry were skilled on the guitar & piano.

Jayy, you’re on to some really good ear-candy! Bread was the music of my childhood…so fortunate!
Guitar Man always makes me think of Music Reactors and their discovery of 70’s rock.

I love hearing a string section accompany this band and other bands. I remember back in the 60's and 70's, it was common to hear string instruments take a song to a different level of enjoyment. I would like to hear more of that today.

I agree w/ your assessment of Bread. Soft rock, yes indeed but powerful none the less.
