Emma: in mood for something nice, fun and light.
Also Emma: picks handmaids tale.😆

The handmaids tale is definitely very dark and often uncomfortable to read, so probably not the best if you’re looking for something fun. However, it is one of the best books I’ve ever read so definitely recommend!!
(P.s I love your videos, they’re always so comforting 💕)

Apart from the great TBR you have, i just want to say that the length of your hair looks so flattering on you. I love it so much.

It's Ramadan month for the Muslims around the world now, and my tbr is consists of books written by Muslim authors, books about the religion, Islamic history and more reading stuffs that can bring me closer to God. I hope you'll have a great reading month!

You are the warmest person on YouTube. Whenever one needs comfort, they can watch your videos and feel the affection they are missing.❤️

Susanna Clarke's Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell is written SO beautifully, but yes, it's long-form for sure. A fascinating, detailed, remarkable novel, strongly recommended but also distinctly not for everyone.

YOUR channel is somehow my comfort, I found peace and put love more into reading books all by myself.

Jonathan Strange has been one of my favorites since forever! You're right, it's a commitment, but the world of magic Clarke weaves into Napoleonic Europe is fascinating! The writing style is full of dry wit, and the secondary characters are all so memorable. Also, the book is footnoted, which is a nice way to expand the world without breaking for exposition, but the footnotes also sometimes cite sources written by characters in the book itself, so there's a metatextual component. I can't wait for you to read it - it's the perfect book for cloudy days and stormy nights.

My tbr is small but chunky this month- I'm reading the Silmarillion which is turning out to be possibly my favourite book of all time (honestly I just want to read every word Tolkien ever wrote 😭💖), I'm also reading Senlin Ascdends which is super interesting so far and my classic on the go is Anna Karenina (first Tolstoy for me!!)

For romance, I am not sure if you like historical romances, but maybe you can read the Girl Meets Duke companion series by Tessa Dare. These books are no literary revolution, but they are fun & I really liked them. Maybe you can give it a try on kindle. The first one is “The Duchess Deal”. 💕

It's such a relief, finishing all the uni readings in a semester and imagining all the books one will treasure stored ahead! So excited for you to finally get some time for your pleasure reading soon, Emma! I'm also very excited for this Easter reading month and pick books from my shelves.

Handmaid’s Tale is really a dystopian classic, I honestly believe it doesn’t get the respect it deserves because it is centered on women’s experience. Definitely something worth reading! I hope you get to it soon.

Handmade's tale is wonderful but it's so far from light and fun. I remember getting such a sense of loss reading it - as if lightness and possibility had slipped away as you watched it circle down a drain. Perhaps not the mood you are searching for.

This month, in my fiction reads, I have Brodeck on my TBR along with Atlas Shrugged. Since the length of that last one, it is pretty much all I am committing too. The rest will all be fun additions

I think I'm going to read 'An Unexpected Light: travels in Afghanistan' by Jason Eliot as part of my Around The World book reading. And I have 'The last bookshop in London' by Madeline Martin to finish, I'm just over the half way mark. This one is set during WWII and it's about a young woman who starts work in a local bookshop. I'm also reading a non-fiction book called 'Our uninvited guests' by Julie Summers, which is set in WWII English countryside. It tells the story of all the large homes and estates that were used during WWII, some were turned into hospitals or wartime recuperation places for soldiers, others were used by the War Office or government departments. It is actually really interesting, you learn about the owners of the properties, the local people and how they involve themselves in caring for the returning soldiers and their experiences during the war.

I loved Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, slow in places but so beautifully written!! I just finished the Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes

Although several of those titles are immediately familiar to me, I must admit to not having read any of them, Thus, it is doubly exciting waiting to hear what they are all about, to find out what I've been missing. My reading progress has been slow but steady and I hope to start a new project soon. Enjoy!

I loved The Handmaid's Tale but absolutely think you need to be in the right kind of mood to read it. Would be so interested to hear what you think if you do get round to reading it though!
