Edwin Encarnacion was the worst third basemen in baseball with the Cincinnati Reds ranking dead last in terms of WAR from 2005-2009. But after a midseason trade to the Toronto Blue Jays in 2009, he went on to terrorize the league during his peak in the 2010s, managing 8 straight seasons with 32+ home runs, 3 All-Star appearances and one of the craziest walk off home runs in Wild Card history...

Man, that 15-16 crew was so fun to watch! I miss that

Edwin was amazing and super entertaining. I was there when he hit that HR to beat the Orioles and the ball landed literally 10 or so feet away from me. The stadium shook that day 😢.

The way the Toronto Blue Jays rescued both Edwin Encarnacion’s AND Jose Bautista’s careers is amazing.

EZ... It's not a single HR I remember.

It is the day he hit 3 in a game in Toronto....
And the fans treated him to a (Hat Trick).
We Canucks threw our baseball hats on the field in celebration!!
He had no idea what was happening!!

"despite having a decent squad" is something we say a lot in Toronto

Was at the Dome for his 2016 Wild card HR... unforgettable moment!

I remember that 3 homer game in Toronto where the fans treated it as a baseball hat trick and threw the hats on the field. Edwin had no idea why.

I don’t know how many casual baseball fans will think of Hunter Dozier or Nick Maton as the worst 3rd baseman

Edwin, Jose, and Josh are Jays legends, right up there with the best! I was at the triple home run game against Detroit in 2015 and man that was a WILD game. Had nose bleeds and almost didn't go. So glad I did!

When Edwin won the 2016 Wild Card Game, his celebration with arms raised in the air mirrors Roberto Alomar's historic home run against Oakland's Dennis Eckersley in the 1992 ALCS.
This is probably no accident.

The ungodly eruption coming from the Skydome when Edwin hit that 11th inning wild card bomb, may have been the loudest sound ever recorded in Canadian history.

Great post, A+!
I'm so glad Edwin is back with the Jays. Hopefully he can provide his positive influence to young-ish players again. They need it.

My father’s favourite player, while mine was Jose Bautista. Man I miss those days.

It's great to see him back in a Jays uniform as a strong mentor for Vladdy ❤

It's so interesting to see his old batting stance because as a Jays fan, the low hands on the bat is something I think of as defining for his game
