This webinar was the second of four in the 8th APAN Pre-forum virtual dialogue series. It focused on the resilience of ecosystems and ecosystem services, one of the four thematic streams in the upcoming Forum.

Ecosystems and ecosystem services play a fundamental role in supporting life on earth and providing vital benefits to people such as climate and water regulation, and food provision. Key ecosystems, including marine and coastal, forest, and mountain ecosystems, have the capacity to enhance human resilience through their functions and services. They are, however, threatened by climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. Enhancing ecosystems and ecosystem services resilience while continuing to develop solutions for climate change and addressing non-climate drivers of ecosystem loss is therefore essential.

This webinar aims to:

1. Provide an overview of ecosystem resilience in Asia-Pacific, focusing on key ecosystems' status and vulnerability to climate change.
2. Enhance the understanding of how ecosystems and their services contribute to climate change adaptation and community resilience.
3. Identify and discuss key challenges and opportunities to strengthen ecosystems and ecosystem services’ resilience for transformative adaptation.
4. Share lessons and best practices from initiatives that strengthen ecosystems and ecosystem services' resilience.
