Women are often primary financial providers because nearly 25% of children have an absent father

Women having to do both financial providing and childcare doesn’t sound exciting

is this a graduation speech? So literally a “your time here was worth nothing, unless you caught the attention of your future husband”. Incredible choice

Thank you for highlighting just how wrong this man is. No shame to women who do want to be homemakers and wives and mothers, as those are all noble roles. However not all women’s lives “begin” just at marriage. Women are so much more!

If his career had worked out differently, he’d be coaching high school kickers & hoping for a chance in the UFL. His wife, with her CS degree, would be the breadwinner.

Saying “My wife’s life didn’t truly begin until she became a wife” is wild.

I'd say that maybe he suffered one too many concussions but that seemed too much like it came directly from the depths of his mommy wounds.

Once I heard the word marriage and vocation, it had to be something to do with Catholics

Ps: I’m a Catholic myself

I will say that just the statistics of how many women are working vs being housewives might not paint the whole picture. There’s a very real possibility that some of those women might *want* to be married, but due to the current economic climate don’t have the leeway. This can be seen in Japan to a more extreme degree and it has the side effect of making the women more picky (since the man has to be really good for them to give up their lucrative job to be a mom) and the men subsequently give up on dating altogether due to the oppressive atmosphere, leading to part of the reason for their declining birth rate (which is happening in all first world countries, it’s just most pronounced in Japan right now).

This is more of an economic discussion though.

I'm not Christian. Does the whole Christian religion support the idea of limiting the freedom of girls and women? That's what this guy sounds like he's saying

I'm one of those 40% whose wife makes more. Not sure what this kicker man is talking about

I’d argue though that the odds of becoming a professional nfl player are lower than the odds of becoming a physicist…

I dont prefer it, but working is so much easier then being a mother/ homemaker. I love my baby though, i wouldnt want to see someone else raise him. I never looked back at work and missed it, but looking back at newborn photos always makes me cry. Those were the worst and best days of my life.
