I thought Storm Front was pretty good, but the rest of the series is mind blowing! Storm Front was Butcher’s first novel and it shows after you read the rest of the series Every single book just gets better & better! He introduces the fay world into the series, and the action is non stop. I have been looking for another series as good as The Dresden Files for years now and I still haven’t found one. Butcher’s tone is realistic and filled with sarcasm, a very rare quality in today’s fiction.

It's fantastic! This has to one of my favorite series, and Butcher is one my favorite authors.

And yes, the series does hold up and does not remain predictable.

I only heard of this series because you keep talking about it. I don't usually enjoy grim worlds, even less detective stories or pulp, but this had me biting my nails so much that I'm actually bleeding now. Also it was so campy and delightful and self-aware that I couldn't buy enjoy it. Thanks Daniel for recommending Dresden files! Found the first book in the local library, ordered the second one already and going to donate or to library after reading it so that more people can enjoy it. Keep up the good work!

So I watch all your videos for the last nearly two years and know you love this series and decided to start it. So glad I picked it up. Burned through this in a day. Loved it and cannot wait to continue the series.
Also your channel has evolved so much, love the direction you decided to take it ❤️

Just another series you've convinced me to invest in. Thank you for your videos on these and many other books as your channel, as well as another, has played an integral role in the drastic expansion of my library since December of last years. Thanks for doing what you do.

Great series the Dresden Files, one of my personal favorites. If you loved book one, your are really going to enjoy the series after book three, when the books start to add a plot.

Man! If you loved this one- just wait. It’s so well planned out. He planned it in the 90’s. Roughly 21 ‘case’ books with an ‘apocalyptic trilogy’ (Butcher’s words) to end it.

There’s stuff from the early books that hasn’t been resolved yet. It’s so reread-able.

I hope you continue reviewing these!

Dresden file's is literally what got me into reading again or well listening as it was my first audio book and i haven't stopped sense. Also Daniel i have to say personally i found if anything the book's only get better, the quality stays roughly the same on the first and second book and changes slightly on the third and the fourth is where he really hits his stride. Not that any of them are bad by any means. I hope to see more video's on this series just to hear your thoughts on a series that is so near and dear to my heart By far easily my favorite Urban fantasy series.

This was an easy and simplistic book to read yet fun and entertaining all at the same time👍📚

Yeah, as others have said, Storm Front, imo, though a good book, is by far one of the weakest in the Dresden Files series. I love Harry so much. I love how funny he is, and how defiant and fearless he appears in the face of an awesome opponent, even though inside he's terrified. And the over-arching story is wonderful. I've listened (yes Audiobooks, like you. James Marsters reads all of them, and he is an AWESOME Harry. You're really missing out if you just read the books) to all the books about 3 or 4 times and love to come back to them every couple years. Waiting impatiently for the newest one though. it's been like a 5 year wait.

Yes! I’ve read up to book 8 a while ago but put them down for the WoT series. Gonna have to return eventually. You never know who done it until the end every time

I'm very glad you enjoyed this book. I honestly didn't think you'd enjoy the first that much but I'm very pleased you like it for what it is. I rate the next book to be just as good, book three I consider to be a whole lot better and book four is just packed with so many interesting beings, characters and just so much good stuff, so great.

SO glad you liked it. It's ALL uphill from book one, verily truly. You're making me want to pick this up again!

I'd give it 3.5/5 really.
Good solid book. Original concept, the mash-up between fantasy and mistery. This is basically Red Dragon by Thomas Harris but with a supernatural twist to it. I gotta say I love the magical aspects of this one.
The writing is just okay, the dialogue is a little cringe sometimes, but the character of Harry Dresden is excellent, and the general conception of the story is well accomplished.
It's clear that the main purpose of this book is setting things up and introduce us to this fantastic world (and is good at that), so I'm hoping for more in the upcoming installments.

Read this book several years ago and remember enjoying it but for some reason never picked up the next ones. I still have Storm Front sitting on a shelf, maybe time for a re-read.

My guilty pleasure "pulpy" books, are probably the Skulduggery ones.
