no idea on range, will depend on if there are any interfering RF signals around, quality of raspberry pi antenna and signal connection between them. My guess is 20 feet or more.

The python code must include backward method or function that will allow the robo-car to reverse.

I crap you not, I just picked up a RPi, and was thinking of making a RPi controlled car, made of I have a huge box in my basement that my daughter and I play with now and again from my childhood. I want to use a ps3 controller, but happened across this video instead. Very neat!

Also how did you send the signal from the PC to the raspberry pi and is there a program you wrote on the pi that has to be running when then robot is on?

A kid controls a toy car with a wii remote and it only has 14k views. When you first log onto YouTube there's videos of a cat falling off car, just stupid.
