As a South African, we missed an opportunity to open the Fifa 2010 World Cup with this song. This was the song!

As a Zimbabwean born under the Bob Mugabe regime, l had no choice but become a Pan-Africanist .Our airwaves blasted African music, Salif Keita and the beautiful Cesaria Evora were the sound track to my childhood .Now living in the diaspora and a grown ass man, l believe Zimbabweans are the most Pan-Africanist nation and when Bob said "Tony Blair keep your England and l will keep my Zimbabwe ", he was express self love equivalent to Mohamed Ali refusing to go to Vietnam .I am a deeply proud African, wish l could share my pride .

Growing up in the 1990s, this song was always on the airwaves of the FM radio stations in Nigeria.
The song itself is a strong energizer to the spirit of the true African.

As a Nigerian, i cant understand or speak French but i have streamed this song from three different platforms in the past 3 hours just to have a full taste of it. It resonates to me like the golden era of African pride.

Oh Africa, how much i want you to know that our hope is thee. I have never felt home sick like i do now from Canada. Merci kaita salif
