How To Play Don't Disturb This Groove by The System (Verse)

This is the verse. The chorus has a few additional analog synths.

Sounds:
- Clavinet: DX7/TX816. Put 2 different clavinets on L/R to get the stereo effect
- Bell sounds: DX7/TX816. I used Bells SOP (I layered with additional pad)
- Bass: I used DX7 VirginBass (DX7 libraries) but Minimoog was actually used
- Brass: Matrix 12 most likely. I used analog stacked Oberheim sample

I am very impressed.. that sounded very close to the original song. Those sounds were spot on.

In the original track. The Bell sounds and the bell pad came from a TX-815. The clav a DX-1. The bass was a minimoog used by David Keith and the analog pads are from an Oberheim Matrix-12. The drums are a Linn-9000.

Fantastic!  I remember when this album was released.  It was really popular and kind of a summer anthem if I remember correctly.

You've captured the essence of the song. Almost like you were the one playing in the studio.

David Keith of the system was the producer of this track. The clav sound actually came from a DX-1, the bells and bell pad came from a TX-815. The analog is an Oberheim Matrix 12.

I consider myself an expert in playing this song. I've done a few versions here on YT. David used a TX rack mount in serial for the big bell sounds. The bass was a Moog. I've tried to recreate this song's fat sound for years, but can't pull it off. It was the 8-bit digital and fat analogue tube amps of the 1980s. You definitely nailed the clav parts though. I never thought to put diff clav patches L&R and detune them a bit. It's tricky to find the right DX7 clav pads though!

The bass is the hardest thing to imitate. I've tried layering 3 analogue bass patches and still can't get that clear, fat analogue bass.

The chorus is a nightmare. So many synths, it's impossible to separate them, much less figure out the parts they're playing. There's a sizzling synth sound, and a more muted synth horn for the chorus chords. Plus a mute guitar with a cool chorus effec that punches through.

A master of composition, synth programming, engineering and mixing.
