No Rebar? #buildingconstruction

There are 2 kinds of concrete. 1) concrete that is cracked 2) concrete that will crack.Mix design, psi, base prep and contraction joints etc all influence cracking and strength. Different levers to pull for a slab that performs and looks good. FYI, a year later and no cracking outside of the contraction joints.... exactly where we want them #skilledtrades #concrete #flatwork #huberpartner
.
There are many "Right Ways" yours might be 1 of them.

Although it is highly reccomended rebar is not a requirement. Personally i wouldnt be comfortable without it tho

This probably has fiberglass reinforcement and is a higher psi concrete. I only have fiberglass in mine other than along the perimeter because I poured a monolithic slab for my shop. In the three years it's bean up I have no cracks.

Good question. It’s all about the sub base. Good sub base will act as a continuous support of the slab meaning not flexural or shear stresses on the slab

I like the cattle panels from tractor supply myself

The timber kit sits on top of a concrete reinforced slab, they are pouring a 50mm screed on top of a concrete reinforced slab.

✋️ question, if fiberglass reinforced concrete is a thing. Why dont we pour it everywhere so we can eliminate the rebar. Seems cheaper than paying a rod buster. 🤷

If the slab isn’t spanning distance or supporting a lot of weight than rebar will cause more harm than good. You will get hairline cracks at times right where the bar is and the kicker is you didn’t need the tensile strength in that application

That concrete is a weird color.... Must be why it doesn't need it?

Not all concrete slabs (sidewalks, driveways, drive aisle, etc.) require rebar. There are several variables, including the concrete mix design itself. Fiber reinforced (macro or micro) concrete can be used in lieu of rebar reinforcement. Or you can use rebar with fiber reinforcement together.

I’ve seen one time polyester fiber, I was thinked it supposed to be fiberglass fiber, but not, it melt with flame, plastic/polyester fiber is not so strong!! Maybe it was a scam??🤔 (I’m not english native, sorry)

Rebar is so 1970 no one uses that anymore in upstate ny we’ve been using fiber raped copper insulated tubes. There’s nothing stronger I’ll put anything up against it bros. Side note I used to work with these boys they’re work is so legit can’t wait to get back on the crew!!
