the mistake most people make about the beatles is that they believe the beatles to be a ballad band and nothing is further from the truth. the beatles were rockers right down to their dna. and they were more than that. they can't be pigeon-holed into one genre as they explored, invented and imitated practically every genre imagainable. the best way to listen to the beatles is in sequence. to experiennce their growth, maturity and evolution. in 1962 they started out real good with their first single "love me do" and over a short period of 8 years they get even better. there's just nothing quite like it. George wrote this song in his garden after he walked away from a Beatles session for the Let It Be film. He felt miserable and thought he would never return to the band (which he did) and came up with this hopeful song. Amazing.

Among all the great elements of this classic, the superb drum track from Ringo rarely gets it's due. Just perfect, right on par with what the great Hal Blaine was able to do for any song he encounterred. A suggestion at the beginning of your Beatles journey. Try to start at the beginning of their career, in 1963/64, and follow their progression through the 7 years of their career as a group. One of the most amazing things about them is the change they made in their music, progressing from sweet teenage love songs to musically and lyrically more mature and complex work.

George Harrison (guitar/ vocals) of The Beatles wrote and sang quite a few memorable Beatles tunes, which included 'Here comes the Sun'... Harrison often felt overshadowed by his more prominent Beatles bandmates Paul McCartney and John Lennon, who co-wrote the majority of The Beatles songs.
One of Harrison's Beatles songs did become a #1 hit - 'Something'... which was a love song for his then-wife Pattie. George Harrison was also underrated as a solo artist and had quite a few hits... he felt closest to drummer Ringo Starr in The Beatles, who was not a prominent songwriter in the band.
