We drive the surprisingly good Hyundai Genesis Coupe RSpec. It has a stick shift. It is rear wheel drive. It has a limited slip diff. It makes 350hp. What's not to like?

That shit's high art right there

There is a Genesis running around here in Orange county CA with a "japanese muscle" decal on top of the front window. Always laugh when I see it. Sad no one has told him anything.

MPG and torque gauges aside, the oil temperature gauge is something I always want in a performance oriented car.

“Quick as a coughing fart” has been added to my vernacular.

A buddy of mine put a mesh grille on his, totally changed the appearance! The weird Mustache it has reminds me of the early BRZ's mustache. Very dated and odd styling choice (also not functional, since it blocks airflow).
Performance and price was always a great bargain on these little lads. Aftermarket is slowly growing for them as well, as they become cheaper and more accessable for car guys. Great starter car, and really just a great car in general! (for the price)

The 2.0T coupe has a turbo gauge there instead of a “torque” gauge.

This is one of those cars: I'm glad it exists, but I don't want one.

Which is probably a hint as to why it doesn't exist anymore.

"A thought crime against the ministry of traction." I'm dead, my new favorite quote from RCR

Honestly Hyundai doesn't get enough recognition for how great this car actually turned out in the end. Fairly fast, affordable, and very much a driver's car (once TC is off, of course) Engine is kinda shit when boosted but for what it is, it's a great little nugget!

I live in Korea, it's either this or the 86 if we wanna get an RWD sports coupe. Considering the distance between Korea and Japan it's surprisingly tough importing JDMs from 1980-2000 with all the bullshit import and modification rules.

“Home of Dancin’ Dan. Making credit expand.” 😂 He never fails to make me spill my coffee. Although “Quick as a coughing fart” was funny as hell too.

Oil temp is very valuable for knowing when is a good time to mash it after a cold start.

My understanding was that the Genesis Sedan was targeted more towards luxury while the coupe was an attempt to attract enthusiast.

Genesis Sedan vs 5series
Genesis Coupe vs 350z.

Listen, I’m all for love for all builds/enthusiasts but the people who buy these and name them Genny need to be placed in purgatory

I bought a 2010 Genesis Coupe in Grand Touring trim in 2010. I was going through a divorce and could no longer afford the Infiniti G37 convertible that was going to be my next car. I loved that Genesis coupe. Five years later, I traded it in on a G37 convertible and regretted it within a year. It's far from being the objectively best car I've ever owned, but it may be my favorite. I do not think that they were trying to make it a luxury car. I don't think they knew quite what they were doing with the Genesis nameplate yet when they put out a luxury sedan and a sports coupe with the same name. Though not quite real luxury, the sedan's interior was way, way, way better quality and materials than the coupe's.
