Snow and ice slowed traffic on Highway 1 in B.C. on January 14. A sudden blast of blowing snow across the area Sunday caused dozens of crashes, delays or closures on several highways and bridges, while as much as 25 centimetres of snow forced a number school districts — mainly in the Fraser Valley — to cancel classes on Monday. Ferries between the mainland and Vancouver Island were also called off due to wind.

Try highway 401 in Toronto in a snow storm - they have 500, 000 cars per day across 16 lanes and 22 lanes at the airport.

The snow is not wetter... It's really dry snow... If it was snowing around -1 then sure it would be wetter but it was -9. It rained just before the snow and that froze and made everything terrible.
