For people wondering, popping is normal in snake breeding and sexing! You gotta be gentle but otherwise it’s perfectly safe
There is also a probing method as well

You know what, that popping thing is weirdly similar to determining the gender of rabbits. I never thought it would look so similar for a mammal and a reptile. Especially when they have a different number of legs.
Edit: and a different number of holes. Dunno why I didn't mention that in the first place.

For most snakes (from what I know, please fact check before listening to me) just check their tail, which no is not their whole body. They’re mostly spine (spine equals tail, tail doesn’t equal spine. It’s the whole rectangle-square thing but with sentient noodles). Check for where a white strip is on their torso and below that is the tail, longer is femme, shorter is masc. (learned this from SnakeDiscovery)
