Things to do:

1.
Stop breeding your poor hamster.

2.
Give her a real hamster cage with much more space.

3.
Giver her lots of bedding to burrow in.

4.
She needs more chewable toys like sticks, ropes, or small corn cobs.

5.
Take that stuffed animal out of that cage right now.

6.
Put a different variety of food in her bowl, how would you like it if you ate the same thing every day?

7.
Please get her a wheel and pipes, hamsters need exercise.

8.
Do your research before getting a hamster.

She's desperately looking for a safe nesting area.

So the mother hamster can not find place to keep the baby because the bedding is not enough

The reason why she was eating them is because she can’t hide them, And another reason is that she’s stressed or she feels attaked.

There are a lot of problem in this video lol

1. Cage size - The small size is fine for a nursing mother but definitely too small for daily lives. I assume this is your regular cage.

2. Bedding - Aspen is too sharp for newborn hamster. I recommend getting paper bedding or place ripped tissue in the hamster's hideout. You dont need 4 inches of bedding for babies but minimum of 1-2 inch is needed for the mother to nurse her litter.

3. Housing - Hamsters need their privacy especially right after pregnancy. Give her a bigger hideout and cover your cage with a towel.

4. The babies - Do not touch the babies until they are close to 2 weeks old. I feel like you might have touched them which is why they are scattered in the middle of nowhere. Touching them will leave your scent all over the babies and create confusion to the mother. Chances are she will see them as food and eat all of them because they no longer smell like her.

5. Toys - Do not put stuffed toy in any hamster cage. Hamsters will chew through and crawl inside them. They will then either get stuck or suffocated to death. It is not fun to lose your hamster only to find it weeks later because of the smell of the corpse.

Not having a wheel in the cage in this phase is fine because the mother might want to spend more time on the wheel than to nurse her babies. Do put the wheel back in the cage after 3 weeks though when the babies are big enough and wont get hurt from it.

6. Environment - Your cage should be placed in a quiet and dark room. The mother will start eating her babies if she are scared. Having you filming them making noises will further stress her out. You dont want to have a litter of 12 on the first day and end up with a few in less than a week.

I can’t watch this!!!! That Mummy is extremely stressed trying to hide her babies but she can’t as there’s no where near enough bedding for a start! 😠

I think she's looking for some place where she can hide her babies, but where she can hide the babies if it's lack of bedding??? :(

You clearly have no idea what you're doing. Firstly there wasnt enough bedding for her to burrow and hide her babies, secondly, the frantic movement she shows back and forth is her trying to find a place to hide them so they are safe from predators. Thirdly, when she does decide to take baby into the ONLY 'safe' sort of area, you then take the top off!!! Lastly, its very common for mother hamsters to panic because of the extra mouths to feed and will often kill at least one or two of their young because of that.

Stop breeding hamsters please and do the whole world a favour.

You have to give AT LEAST like 6 inches of bedding, and give mom a lot more fresh fruits and veggies, and also give A LOT MORE protein than you usually do, such as eggs, unseasoned meats, mealworms, crickets, etc. otherwise mom has to eat the babies because she doesn't have enough protein. And don't breed unless you know what you are doing. And NEVER lift a hideout. The purpose of a hideout is for me hamster to feel safe.

That cage is far too small, and there is hardly any bedding in there at all. Disgusting.

This made me almost tear up. My hamster had babies 2 weeks ago because we brought home a pregnant hamster.
There need to be more bedding! My hamster made a huge burrow underground with the 10+ inches of bedding (24+ cm)
Her babies are walking fine on it and she is maybe a little stressed by how many there is and her own age. She’s literally 2 months old :c
But she haven’t eaten any and taking great care of them.
