In this first episode of my new series Quick Tips For Helix, I look at what I feel can be one of the most powerful and often overlooked parameters when setting up reverb, the pre-delay setting. In this series I am going to do very short, concise videos on a very specific topic to hopefully help people get the most from their Helix and dial in great tones. I really hope you enjoy the video and this new series!

As always, thanks so much for watching...

Thanks a bunch. 200 ms on the pre delay. I didn’t know what that was for. How cool.

Jason, I was wondering if you might be interested in making a video about noise in a home studio, particularly when using plugins. I never hear much noise in your videos.

Very good tip, looking forward to more in this series. I loved that fretless guitar you finished up with. Have you ever done a video where you talk about the particular model, I've never seen it before in your videos.

Good stuff with all the options that come with the helix. It's easy to suffer from parameter overload.
But they are important, and this is an excellent example of that.

Great as always Jason. I've been cranking up the pre-delay lately since my ears have told me to, but I never knew if that was common to do. Now that you've confirmed I feel better about it! Thanks for all you do - I think EVERYTHING I have learned about the Helix has been from you. Please keep up the great work!

Great stuff jason. I use the glitz reverb. Im going to try the 200ms predelay. Im using 106ms right now. 19% mix. Also run the reverb into the dual delay 375ms and 500ms. 22% mix on both delays. And that goes into a simple delay. 30ms 0 feedback and 100% mix. Im running effects parallel path in series. Im using spillover preset so only path A. Otherwise i would parallel all the effects.

For perspective, sound will travel 20 feet in 17.9 ms, and 100 feet in 89.3 ms.
