Great video! I prefer to use the complete mulching kits from Toro on the Grandstands all season long. The key is to not skip a week. The leaves just disappear before your eyes.

They live in north New Hampshire I think. I saw that also. They have bears and other beasts running around. Love your videos and keep up the good work that you and TJ do.

Funny, I was using Gators on my my decks over 20 years ago! I would tell other guys I knew, how well they worked, but knowone would switch! Glad to see they caught on.

Looks like that I am coming up your way for a brief visit this weekend. Going to make sure that I fit a visit to Slabaugh in Appld Creek. Hope that the rest of your weekend is great. Let's Keep each other in our prayers.🙏🙂

I have a huge male Mulberry tree in my front yard, the leaves cover my front yard about 1 -2 ft deep ( the tree drops in one 3-4 hour time period ) I mulch them in 7 or 8 times and they go down to a 2" covering so intake about half to the back yard and spread it out, in the spring my grass has a nice Jumpstart into being fully fertilized and the leaves are all gone. Probably should do some aeration.
It looked like a fine job on the chain replacement TQ it will have to be tightened a little when it warms up and then loosened when you're done.
2 successful cone flips, Nice!

Since most of the wear comes on the bottom of the chainsaw bar, turn the bar over every few sharpenings to extend the life of the bar, and get even wear on both sides.

Before you snug the nuts down. Turn the screw to tighten the chain up. But not too tight. It should have some play. Then tighten the nuts down. With practice you will do fine. At your homestead you guys will get a lot of practice. Best wishes to all of you.

I use the Ballard X blades adapter with a high lift blade on the bottom and a gator or ripper blade on top. That combination has worked well for mowing and leaf collection.

Quick question(sorry if it’s already been addressed)…would it not make sense to leave your shoot blocker closed with mulching blades on (while mulching) to get best mulching results..since you normally go over the lawn twice anyway?

Hi Shawn, This is my second year mowing for a leaving so there are some things that Im stil trying to figureout. For example do you charge customers more if you showup for weekly maintenance and there is a lot on the grass like in this video and you mulch them as you did ? How about when you start bagging? Sr I love your channel and everything you do to try and help others like me to have a successful business. Thank you.

Love the videos. I run a multi force and noticed your bagger. What’s the measurement of the widest part? Wondering if it would fit on my enclosed trailer. Keep up the great content!!

TQ, Just a couple of tips on chainsaw maintenance;
1:MAKE SURE THE CHAIN BRAKE IS OFF, (NOT SET), BEFORE REMOVING THE BAR MOUNTING COVER
2: Make sure the teeth face forward on the top of the bar, You did but it happens and trust me it don't cut when it's on backward.
3: When changing the chain, take a tiny screwdriver and scrape out the grove that the chain goes in. Do this all the way around the bar. Also clean out the holes at the end of the bar where it mounts to the saw. Some of these holes are for the oil to get to the chain.
4: Take the Scrench, (That's what the tool that has a screwdriver welded to the socket is called), and scrape off the excess crud under the bar mounting cover before reinstalling.

5: Adjust the chain as per the manual.
6: Tighten the bar nuts.
Looked to me like you did well over all. One suggestion, until one of you learns to sharpen your own chain, (it's really NOT that hard to do, but does take practice), always carry at least one extra chain with you when sawing. It doesn't take long to change one and it's much better than having to quit because the chain is dull. Also for sawing, I keep an ammo can with saw tools, wedges, spare chains, et. Keeps everything I need for saw work in one easy to find place.
Finally, Dirt is not your friend. Don't be afraid to scrape dirt and bark off the logs when bucking the logs. A small axe or hatchet is great for this. The bark gets dirt embedded in it when being drug on the ground and will dull a chain QUICK so I feel it's worth the effort to try to get as much off as you can. Hope this helps.

TQ... at 16.29 it appears that the chain is on backwards... The tooth at the top of the bar on the nose shows the cutting edge facing backwards and the raker is trailing it... The raker should be ahead of the cutter and the pointed end of the tooth should face forward on the top of the bar. If you flip the bar over so the label is upside down it would be okay. It is on the loose side too... Lift the tip of the bar and tighten the adjuster until the chain just touches the bar in the middle of it's length, then tighten the bar nuts. It will all be second nature soon... like some of the trimmer techniques I picked up from you!

Man, if you like what those blades are doing you would love it if you put a toro mulch kit on and get exmark mulching blades. I am telling u it will change your cleanups. I believe I suggested this a year or 2 ago. It will reduce the volume of leaves so much. As you finish out mowing season you will make them all disappear. Once you start fall cleanups you will then have a lot less dumping with bagger if you run over lawn first before bagging and in some cases if you double cut with mulch kit no bagging will be needed. Also will reduce the amount of leaves you have to cleanup with the goat and load in trailer.

I wish I could mulch leaves into my customers lawns. They want it all bagged which is a PITA, but I assume it wouldn't take more time than double, triple cutting, versus emptying the bag into my landscape barrel. The only difference is I'm taking it away and having to dump it which is at no cost to me (for now). TQ You can remove and install a new chainsaw blade without removing the bar. Just loosen the nut that holds it on and slide it back to release the tension to remove, then replace the blade. You did absolutely phenomenal!!!

Hey brother. Would you be able to speed up the leaf mulching with mulch kits and mulching blades? We use them year round here and have great results. Only have to slow down for overgrown yards and extreme clean-ups.

Gotta stop feathering that gas trigger . Just need to hold it down wide open & get it done . It doesn’t cut well when it’s that slow . Re-working a lot sooner than later . Plus your finger gets tired & unnecessary arthritis . Hope this helps . I used to weed-eat Ole miss 8 hour days

Good video thank you ! I had to laugh I put a chain on backwards on a chainsaw, my coworker didn't figure it out for a half hour why it wouldn't cut right 😅 having fun.

Im afraid the chain on the saw was too slack before you tighten it up rule of thumb is put the side cover on tighten the nut a bit then tighten the chain and watch the bar once it starts to raise up tighten the nut right up. 😉
