The camera button allows you to use ALL those other shortcuts for other apps, so now a bunch of apps have their own shortcuts

The camera button is the dumbest thing Apple has ever done. I hate this button. I want a case that covers it up so I never have to use it. It’s not even worthless; it actively makes the experience of using my phone worse.

The camera control is intended to get people accustomed to a capacitive touch button.

The upcoming iPhone 17 will unify the action and volume buttons into a single button that will function both as a physical button (like the action button) and as a capacitive touch area (for volume controls).

Yes it is stupid. But I think with visual intelligence coming with ios 18.2, this button will be of some use to iPhone 16 models
