The Peacocks of Palos Verdes

Peafowl first came to the Palos Verdes Peninsula almost a century ago when Palos Verdes founder Frank Vanderlip received 12 birds as a gift. Now, there are hundreds. The birds roam streets and roofs in the city of Rolling Hills Estates. Some residents love the peafowl and some wish the city would take more control.

I visited Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills with my geography class last week and we saw these guys hanging out by the Malaga Cove Library. They're beautiful!

My uncle lived across from a peacock farm. It gets old really, really fast. They are loud and poop everywhere. Very messy.

We LOVE the peacocks in Palos Verdes. You don't like it, GTFO. They were here before humans inhabited the area. Why should humans encroach on their land? Where else would they go????

Terrible and non-native birds. Don't move to PV if you want a decent night's sleep between about January through November --- their constant very loud shrieks and wails will wake you up throughout the night! Rolling Hills Estates is the worst offender in this and the town does nothing about them.

I live in this area and I hate the fucking peacocks. They scream early in the morning and all day. They are a real nuisance.
