December 2019 DevOps for Defense (Part 2) - Security and Compliance Theater - John Willis
Показать описание
We celebrated out 2 year anniversary with a huge event hosting GitHub and John Willis (now with Red Hat). Special thanks to Ms Marshall who joined us from our local Girls Who Code chapter. And special thanks to Rachel from Green Pea Press for coming out to make custom order screen print t-shirts. I'm so proud of this community for their generosity because we were able to raise hundreds of dollars for Girls Who Code through the t-shirt sales. And big thanks to Lou and Stack Overflow for coming back out one year later to engage with and support our community.
Our community would like to extend a huge thank you to John Willis and Red Hat for helping us organize his visit. John is an icon in the DevOps community as the co-author of the DevOps Handbook and the Beyond he Phoenix Project audio book, both of which are amazing sources of knowledge and insight for our community. John provides some critical insight based on his research and work across industry. John's recognition that Compliance & Security Theater is a deadly disease across industry is particularly relevant for our community as we all face new threats in the cyber domain and work to transition to more robust Risk Management Framework (RMF) resiliency models. As I said in the introduction, we've now been able to bring out 2 of he 4 DevOps Handbook authors to Huntsville to engage with our community. Jez and Patrick, we'd love to have you come out too!
If you appreciate what we do and would like to contribute to our community, you can donate through GitHub Sponsors. There are no fees associated with your donation and your donation will be matched by GitHub (through the backing of Microsoft). Our commitment is to ensure that 100% of your donations go directly back into community and the future of DevOps for Defense.
