GTX 750 Ti Vs GTX 1630 - $150 in 2014 Vs $150 in 2023

Welcome to another GPU battle.

Back in 2014 you could get a GTX 750 Ti for around $150 or £150. In 2023, you can get a brand new GTX 1630 for a similar price. This is triple what a used 750Ti now costs, so how does the newer entry-level graphics card compare?

Thanks for watching :)

the only difference is that back then a 750 ti could actually play most games, whereas the 1630 today can play bugger all

It is a poor performance increase, especially if you know that those two are 8 years apart.
It is a shame to see that GPUs get more expensive with not that much performance increase over the years, especially for the mid-low range cards.

I will never tire of these 750ti videos. Would be cool to see a video like best used GPUs for under $150 or something like that. My buddy recently upgraded from a 1060 6gb to a 1080ti that he snagged for $130.

The older cards just last for a long time. The 750TI I bought in late 2014 is now going into its 4th computer. My mom needed an upgrade, one that would play some older titles off GOG. It is absolutely perfect for that. I have a hard time believing that any of the cards like the 1630 will still be useful in 2032...but I could he wrong.

You said that it doesn't make much sense comparing these two, but I believe that this IS a fair comparison and a very valuable lesson. While expecting to gain more performance with each generation for the same price, we now - 8 years later, only get around 50% more performance or less!

For someone from a poor country like me, this is terrible news. I remember when I only had an old integrated Intel GPU, I looked at 750ti and its performance to get a clear picture at what to expect. I didn't want to buy a used 750ti because of so many scammers in this country, and the price is not that much lower than when buying a new product, so I had to wait. So I kept waiting for several years for a good value product to come out only to get disappointed every single year. I no longer have any hopes from NVidia.

Thank you for this video

Awesome (but kind of sad!) comparison. I wonder what the equivalent $150 card would've been in 2005? Seems like the GTX 750 Ti would've absolutely destroyed it.

This reminds me of the AMD 550/560 lineup that was great as budget options back in their time. Would also be a fun look to compare them to the RX 6400 since they're all entry level, even though the 6400 does have a higher asking price at launch than those other two.

My old PC had an i5 2320 and a 750TI, from 2014/2015 to 2020, when I bought a new one. It never let me down (except with Doom 2016), and I even lent it to my brother in law during the shortage, for his new PC, and despite the age and the limitations, it always served him well too. The 750ti will always remain to me as one of the best GPUs ever made, with a price to performance + longevity unmatched

I didn’t even know a 1630 existed. Woah.

You'd think the difference would be bigger, but here we are.

It's also crazy that the 750ti is using about 20W less energy in most of these benchmarks. You'd really think there would be at least *some* increased efficiency over time, but it's basically 20% better performance for 20% more power. Ridiculous.

Speaking of $150, the Arc A380 is around the same price, will you revisit the card now that there were a fair few driver updates since the last time?

My main takeaway from this is me wishing more games were optimized well like fh5

While the 1630 may not offer a larger performance increase despite being 8 years newer its important to remember we are comparing a base x30 class card to a x50 ti card. If the 730 were compared to the 1630 there would be a much larger performance difference.
That being said the 750 ti is a legendary card in large part because it offered great performance and didn't require a 6 pin power connector which allowed it to fit into just about any prebuilt PC easily for a reasonable price.

The LEGEND from 2014, long live the king!

Almost bought a 1630 until I compared it to the RX 6400 and saw it getting stomped in every game while also being cheaper. I put the 6400 in an old budget build and it's been a pretty decent card for light gaming

Had a GTX 750 Ti OC for years. Played every game I wanted well (Witcher 3, GTA 5, etc). Spectacular value for money in its day.

It's really fantastic to see the 750 ti doing an admirable job running a variety of games.

Wow it's honestly hard to believe that an almost 9 year old mid range card is still usable in modern games and a current mid range card isn't that much of an improvement. For me if I had a 750ti I would still use it because I don't mind going down to 720p. I remember playing through ac blackflag on my 710 back in the day. It wasn't the best experience but I played through the whole game and then some.
