For six seasons Naya Rivera captured audiences as Santana Lopez on the beloved show "Glee". The late star got her start acting when she was only 4 years old. However, it would be her role as Santana, a teenage lesbian coming to terms with her sexuality, that would catapult her career.

Although "Glee" ended in 2015, Rivera continued to act, having most recently appeared on "Step Up," a show based on the film series of the same name. Rivera seemed to have a bright future ahead of her, but it was cut short by a heartbreaking incident in the summer of 2020.

These are the tragic details found in Naya Rivera's autopsy report.

This whole thing was just so sad. Her poor little boy had to witness his mama going under. Breaks my heart. I pray it doesn’t destroy his mental health as he grows.

For people saying "oh its her fault for having a white claw and drugs in her system". A white claw (1) is not enough to get you fully drunk. It is 5% alcohol. Let's be clear she was not taking shots (40-50% alcohol) on the boat. As for the drugs, very possible it was medication. Or not. Even in the video they state- very LOW amounts of both. Either way, don't victim blame over a tragic accident.

I think about her a lot. I didn't know her but her death really is so tragic. She will never be forgotten and will always be loved by so many.

If you're on the water and you can't see the bottom you need a life jacket no matter what! Kids and adults. RIP 🪦 Naya ❤️

I never comment on videos on this topic usually but for real wanna say this woman was one hell of a mother and how she had made sure her child was safe. Completely horrified that the child had seen this and was out there by himself afterwards, so heartbreaking. But much respect to this mother and wishing her to rest in peace. I hope her family heals as best as they can 🙏🏾🙏🏾

I was 15 and swam daily. Our group would regularly have distance competitions like racing across the lake. This is so sad, reminds me of a scenario I experienced. Once, I jumped jumped in the lake from my paddleboat because I was hot. My muscles locked up and I sank like a rock. I didn't even know that was something that could happen.. Thankfully, my brothers saved me. Years later, when we were old enough to drink, I had a similar experience. Even though we had beer and had been jumping from the boat for hours, that last beer and that last jump, drunkenness increased to a dangerous level and instantly got nauseous, dizzy, couldn't swim, etc.
Again, the people I was with pulled me out.
Don't swim alone, there's safety in numbers. It's crazy how something can happen to the most seasoned water dogs. Plenty of our lakes are man made, there's flooded towns and forests. So, a person can easily disappear once they sink.

They could have 20, 000 signs about not swimming, people are still gonna swim.

We have a nearby lake called Canyon Lake, which is very popular and often crowded. Several people drown there every Summer, usually after drinking a lot and swimming. The lake was actually a town once, and they just left the town, rusted cars, buildings, stores, etc., to be flooded. A friend of mine did a scuba dive there and said it was incredibly creepy and very dangerous. Weeds and rotting buildings can trap a person and my friend also swore that there were catfish the size of cars that were very aggressive. So many people have died there I just can't go to it anymore, it's very depressing to me and many bodies are never recovered, which is horrific as well.

Prescription meds can do weird things to people like slow your pulse or decrease the amount of available oxygen in a person's blood- in which case you definitely wouldn't have a chance if you started to drown. This seems like an accident that could happen to anyone, and I feel like there should be more public awareness around which activities are safe to do and what precautions are necessary if you're taking a cocktail of prescription drugs. Even a tiny bit of alcohol can have a significant intoxicating effect when combined with certain medications. There should be better safety measures implemented around any lake that people are using recreationally on a regular basis also. Getting tangled in underwater vegetation even briefly can rapidly become a death sentence. An area like that is not safe for swimming whatsoever and not everybody has the kind of health required for the fight of their life on a given afternoon. This didn't have to happen, and I'm so sorry it did.

I’m watching this exactly 2 years after her death. She was one of my favourite characters on glee. She was an amazing mother and she was so talented. We all miss her

Had someone else been on the boat, had she been wearing her life jacket, had she hung onto josey who was wearing a life jacket, she’d still be here and that’s what makes this so upsetting. It was a tragic accident that broke the hearts of so many people. Everyone will remember what she did for her son and how she changed the lives of so many people. R.I.P Naya

This whole story stinks so bad! 1- She went alone with a 4 yo to rent a boat! 2 - She jumped into the water with him but not holding each other just like diving! Who does that with a 4 yo? My parents would jump with meband we would surface together! 3 - She manages to bring her son to safety but doesn't climb back into the boat. Well, its much harder to take someone out of the water with you being on the water than actually climbing out of the water yourself, this makes no sense at all but on top of it is 4 - the son takes a nap and is found sleeping after such traumatic experience. Absolutely zero logic on this story.
