R8 for $1199 I think is worth $300 upgrade. You get autofocus system lifters from R3 with incredible tracking and 40fps CAF, fastest sensor readout currently among all brands for cameras that don’t have stacked sensor (14.7ms) faster than R5 and better by far low light performance and DR than Rlp sensor. Having owned both RP and R8, R8 is clearly worth the $300 difference.

You forgot to mention the lens selection being limited in quite expensive canon rf lenses. Yes they have amazing lenses, but most are expensive and there are no 3rd party.
Costs doesnt come from camera alone

I've been using the RP for nearly 5 years now. It's been great. Low light ISO is OK (just ok...) and the 5 fps is a bit slow. I'm disappointed that canon doesn't have a middle-ground here. Not interested in smaller APS-C formats and the next full frame is close to $2k.

Hi Tony! How do you manage the 30 min record limit and the short battery life?

There are better choices...Why not Nikon Z5?

Great for photography but I would avoid it if you do any video especially if you want to shoot in 4k

My friends who used rp for shooting (still photo) event changed to r8&r10 citing rp too slow and misfocus a lot.
