I can't get over how amazing the designs are. Black pieces are cutesy and white pieces are gremlins, everyone is unique, the kings are an amazing homage to "double king", and the animations are cartoony and refined at the same time. Amazing work!

I like how the pieces and kings are so different from one another. The white pieces being more smug and aggressive while black pieces are more polite and laidback while the white king is just a nervous goober and the black king being lore-accurate to his reference

If you were wondering why every piece was a girl then let me tell you: because queens are females and pawns can become queens, that means that pawns are females and because they can also become every other piece which means that the other pieces also are females BUT pawns can not become another king which means that the king is the only male and therefore the king has an entire harem that protects him in battle

I love that everyone else had a vaguely humanoid appearance that follows suit with their roles in the game, like the Pawns being smaller, armed with pikes and clashing with each other because they can only take diagonally, the Knights with horse ears and tails, the bishops with religioys garments and sniper rifles because they can literally snipe along a diagonal.

And then there's the king. A literal blob with a crown, two disembodied hands, and a shotgun. Never fails to get a laugh out of me. Genuinely, this is the most creative and incredible character design i've ever seen.

love the Shotgun King: Th Final Checkmate reference- and it THEN getting turnt into a Buckshot Roulette reference x3. Very fun way to make two jokes at once by building them off eachother.

The white pieces are. Adorable. Love them so much. Somehow managing to instill each piece with personality AND get across the personality of the PLAYERS based off of their strategies- its so great!
